Josh Harrellson banned from Twitter for criticizing John Calipari
Calipari has since asked Harrellson to take down his Twitter account, but evidence of his Tweets has been preserved in several places.
"Either we are the worst offensive rebounding team or he had gotten better"!!! Just amazing to me I can't get a good job or way to go
yes he has been working hard this off season... It is just amazing to me but I look past it and keep trucking! You can't stop this train!!!
Harrellson's Tweets came in response to comments Calipari made in a post-scrimmage news conference with reporters. In discussing how he wasn't sure which players would comprise his eight-man rotation, Calipari singled out Harrelson as one of the players who needs to perform more consistently.

"Can Josh do this for 15, 20 minutes a game?" Calipari said. "If he can go in there and grab rebounds, then do it. Either we're the worst offensive rebounding team in America or he's gotten better, one of the two. I haven't figured it out. We'll watch the tape and figure it out."
Although Calipari's certainly correct that Harrellson has a lot to prove after logging a mere four minutes a game last season as a junior, it's also easy to understand the 6-foot-10 senior's frustration. He's trying to crack Kentucky's rotation in his final year of college, yet his coach didn't have much positive to say publicly about what appeared to be a breakthrough performance.
Calipari went on Twitter on Wednesday morning to explain why he asked Harrellson to take down his Twitter account.
Please don't fault Josh. He's never dealt w/ how to handle success. I promoted him to the 1st team & told the team to applaud his effort.
I'm looking for consistency in practice, scrimmages & games. He won't be tweeting until he's responsible enough to handle success & failure.
Never dealt with handling success? Ouch. Either Calipari's simply trying to keep Harrellson motivated, or that's one heck of a backhanded compliment.

BEST PLAYER INTRO: ENES KANTER, KENTUCKY
Already a fan favorite at Kentucky even though there's a chance he won't play this season as a result of accepting extra benefits, Kanter brought the house down at Big Blue Madness when he came out to The Undertaker's entrance music. Kanter, who idolizes the Undertaker and has adopted the nickname "The UnderKanter," emerged from the tunnel wearing his favorite wrestler's trademark black hat.
MOST RIDICULOUS COSTUME: BILL SELF, KANSAS
Sorry, Tom Izzo. In most years, you own this category, but Self's Vanilla Ice look has your spacesuit beat this time. Clad in a backwards cap, shades, gold chains and a matching silk shirt and pants, Self introduces a skit performed by Thomas Robinson, Elijah Johnson, the Morris twins and Travis Releford mimicking the group "New Edition."
MOST CLEVER RECRUITING TACTIC: MEMPHIS' PENNY HARDAWAY VIDEO
Memphis couldn't mention elite recruit Adonis Thomas' name at Memphis Madness without committing a violation, so the Tigers found another slightly more subtle way to deliver a message to their top recruit. They showed a video in which Penny Hardaway reflects on why playing at his hometown school was the right decision for him, punctuating the message to Thomas with Hardaway's statement "You can make a difference by staying home."
BEST CELEBRITY CAMEO APPEARANCE: GERARD BUTLER
Hands down, this category belongs to Butler at Michigan State. The star of the movie Spartans-themed movie 300 returned to pump up the Michigan State crowd ... and apparently Tom Izzo too. Check out Izzo's giddy reaction in the above video as Butler leads the crowd through a handful of cheers.
BEST EX-PLAYER APPEARANCE: SCOT POLLARD, KANSAS
God Shammgod showing up at Providence was very cool, but Pollard takes this category with his appearance and his trash talk. Clad in a sleeveless black tuxedo T-shirt, the bearded Pollard questioned why Kansas State was picked ahead of Kansas in the Big 12 preseason poll, noting that the Jayhawks won the league by four games last season and have won at least a share of the past six Big 12 titles.
BEST CHOREOGRAPHED TEAM DANCE: NORTH CAROLINA
Does Roy Williams secretly wish he were a dance instructor? This is at least the third or fourth year in a row that Late Night with Roy has featured a team dance number performed by the Tar Heels. The Dougie was easily the most popular dance at Midnight Madness this season, and North Carolina at least gave it a semi-unique twist by performing "Teach me how to Snuggie" instead.
BEST PERFORMANCE IN A DUNK CONTEST: KEION BELL, PEPPERDINE
I wrote about Bell dunking over seven people this morning, but that may not even have been the high-flying Pepperdine guard's best slam. I'm partial to the third dunk in the above video, which is fittingly punctuated by the ball bouncing off the top of Bell's head. Needless to say, he won Pepperdine's dunk contest by a landslide.
MOST UNLIKELY MIDNIGHT MADNESS: CAL TECH
Cal Tech's men's basketball program has not won a conference game in 25 years, yet the school held its first-ever Midnight Madness on Friday night. Funniest part of Bill Plaschke's column on the event in the Los Angeles Times: The reward for a fan hitting a half-court shot was a basketball signed by five Nobel Prize-winning professors at the school.

Hawaii introduces the 'Seven Deadly Sins of Defense'
To reinforce those goals, Arnold has introduced what he calls the "Seven Deadly Sins of Defense."
According to Honolulu Star-Advertiser, the seven sins are allowing transition points, layups, no-dribble 3-pointers, uncontested 2-pointers or putbacks, committing fouls and having a "not my man" mentality of responsibility. The penalty for committing one of those sins? A whole lot of running.
"Ideally we'd like to play an up-tempo game, but I don't think we can do that at this point because I think you've got to have great depth," Arnold said on a conference call this week. "So our philosophy this year is we're going to be pretty defensive-oriented. We're going to try to build a tough defensive team and as we grow as a team, the tempo will increase."
Hawaii hired Arnold to revitalize a program that sank to last in the WAC last season and hasn't enjoyed a winning season since 2007. The former USC assistant inherits one of the tougher rebuilding in the nation next season considering that of the four players returning from last season, only guard Hiram Thompson averaged more than 1.5 points and 1.0 rebounds.
"We have 10 newcomers coming in," Arnold said. "We did the math and we have the least amount of points and least amount of rebounds returning of any team in the nation."
Hawaii not surprisingly was projected last in the WAC in the preseason poll for the second season in a row, but Arnold remains optimistic about both this season and the future of the program. Thomas will likely be asked to be a team leader after averaging 9.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists last season, but many of the newcomers will need to contribute immediately.
"I do like this team, as young as it is," Arnold said. "We're all new, but their attitude has been phenomenal. I know we're picked ninth and we probably have the longest way to go of anyone in the WAC, but we accept that challenge and we're going to approach every day trying to get better."

October 22, 2010 - The first ever all-basketball online radio station will debut on Monday, October 25, 2010.
Hoops Talk Live (www.hoopstalklive.com) is a website that includes daily shows broadcasted by national basketball experts. The shows are broadcasted using webcams and viewers will be able to interact live with the hosts while watching the shows.
Viewers can type in questions and comments for the hosts as well as call into the shows to talk to the hosts using their computers. The shows will discuss all levels of basketball, including NBA, college basketball, and high school basketball.
