Informative story by Mason Kelley on Washington incoming freshman Tony Wroten Jr. who is involved in a Seattle Public Schools investigation about an allegedly bogus Spanish class that he took.
Wroten, a star basketball player at Garfield High, admitted to investigators he did no course work or use a text book and yet received a C grade that helped him academically qualify for entrance at UW.
Garfield athletic director Jim Valiere, who administered the classes, was dismissed last fall. Principal Ted Howard has also come under fire for his role in the incident.
According to the story, Wroten's eligibility at UW is not in jeopardy if he passes his final semester of Spanish this school year.
The Huskies could ill afford to lose the 6-foot-4 guard who is a five-star recruit and the the top player in the 2011 class.
Wroten's father told Kelley his son did nothing wrong.
