Looks like that 12-year, $3 billion mega-television deal, which begins in 2012 and includes ESPN, is producing some early rewards.
The network is dispatching its college basketball GameDay crew to cover the Washington at Arizona game Jan. 28 in Tucson, Ariz.
Husky fans likely haven't forgotten UW's last trip to the McKale Center, in which former Wildcats star Derrick Williams sealed an 87-86 win with a last-second block on a Darnell Gant short hook shot.
Washington won the first matchup against Arizona last season 85-68 at Edmundson Pavilion and we all know what happened in the rematch in the Pac-10 Tournament championship game ... Coldblooded!
ESPN's College GameDay, which includes host Rece Davis and analysts Jay Bilas, Digger Phelps, Hubert Davis and Bob Knight, makes just eight appearances next season. Since the show's inception in 2005, it was never traveled to Arizona for college basketball.
"We recognize that ESPN paid our program and our fans a tremendous compliment by choosing us to be a part of their GameDay experience," Arizona coach Sean Miller said in a statement released by the school. "It's now our goal to have the best college basketball environment that ESPN hosts all season long. This is a challenge that I know our fans will conquer!"
