A couple of thoughts from last night's 80-52 win over San Francisco.
--- Coach Lorenzo Romar said he wasn't sure if he could have started junior college transfer Aziz N'Diaye at the start of the season because the 7-foot center needed time to make the transition from junior college to Division I basketball. Plus, N'Diaye hadn't played in over a year while recovering from right knee surgery and he had a pesky habit of picking up a lot of fouls in limited minutes.
Romar said he'll start the big lineup Wednesday against Nevada, but didn't commit to it past that game. Conceivably, UW will use the lineup against USC and UCLA, which has the biggest front court in the Pac-10. Still he said big lineup may not be effective against certain teams.
--- Junior guard Scott Suggs was nonchalant about scoring a career-high 15 points. "I could see we weren't hitting shots and that's what I'm supposed to do, go in there and hit shots for us," he said. "And of course, we all got to rebound."
When asked if he felt hot after converting 6 of 7 shots, including all three three-pointers, Suggs said: "It kind of felt normal."

--- Every time Washington destroys a team at home, the opposing coach talks about the Huskies advancing far in the NCAA tournament. Last night San Francisco lost 80-52 and Dons coach Rex Walters threw several verbal bouquets at UW.
"They are a very good team," he said. "I told my guys that we are really going to have a tough road in front of us tonight. This Washington team definitely has the ability to make it to a Sweet 16 game if not an appearance in the Final Four.
"They are relentless in their pursuit of the ball, and they have great size and athleticism to go along with it. I have seen a huge jump from last year's team to this year's team.
Suddenly guys that we didn't have to pay attention to last year are a huge shooting threat."
