But apparently he doesn't even own a computer.
That's what Kentucky associate athletic director of media relations DeWayne Peevy revealed to KyForward in discussing one of his responsibilities, which is doing the actual tweeting for Calipari's account.
Rather than Calipari tweeting himself -- he doesn't even own a computer, Peevy said -- he usually texts or calls Peevy, telling him what to post for him.But I don't want anybody to feel like he's not talking to them. It’s him," he said. "When you have over a million followers, you can't fake that. They're owed more than that."
So when it appeared on Calipari's Twitter page earlier Thursday that he's denying taking a shot at Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski on the radio, that's Peevy -- the self-described "Twitter guy" doing the typing.
That Calipari doesn't man his own Twitter account isn't particularly surprising since he wouldn't be the first college coach to have a sports information person do the duty.
But to not own a computer? For a noted innovator like Calipari? As John Clay of the Lexington Herald-Leader blogged, "Come on coach, get in the 21st century, would you please."
