Isaiah Thomas admitted Tuesday's game against Long Beach State will be a lot different than last week's Maui Invitational.
"It's difficult, but at the same time every game is basically the same except this game (isn't) on ESPN and everybody (isn't) going to be watching," he said. "But we're just ready for the next game. We got to get a win. You're only as good as your last game and we lost our last game."
Thomas said the losses to No. 6 Michigan State and No. 10 Kentucky may help the Huskies in the long run.
"We feel like we didn't even play our best and we were still in both of those games," he said. "We know we can play with anybody in the country. To lose against (those) types of teams, I think it was good for us. I go back to my freshman year when we lost two in a row against Kansas and Florida and that turned the whole season around. Hopefully that happens this year and we'll look back and say we needed them two losses and we got better from them two losses."
Coach Lorenzo Romar (above) said he'll likely shrink the 10-man rotation to nine, but didn't say when he would that and wasn't entirely certain if it would happen.
Don't expect it will happen tomorrow because Scott Suggs (strained left MCL) is out and Venoy Overton (tailbone) is still slowed.
Apparently Suggs injured his knee in the second half against MSU while going up for a rebound.
Romar normally opens the first portion of practice to the media, but today he closed the workout. During his press conference, he said he might tinker with the starting lineup. He said it would be a "game-time decision" on if he'd keep the same starters.
After the press conference, Romar talked extensively about Raymond Lewis, a former NBA player, who he called "the best player I've ever played against."
Hate to admit it, but I hadn't heard of Lewis and needed to do some research. He has a fascinating story.
