Series: McNeese leads 1-0. Washington is 3-3 against the Southland Conference.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

--- F Patrick Richard is a versatile player who scores inside and out. He led McNeese in scoring last season averaging 12.8 points per game. He was named to the all-Southland Conference before the season. Richard was a third-team all-conference choice last season.

--- G Diego Kapelan was voted the team's outstanding player last season. He's the Cowboys' best shooter. He shot 40.2 percent on three-pointers and 87.3 percent on free throws. Kapelan ranks fourth on the school's all-time three-point list.

--- G Stephan Martin was the team's top six man last year and third leading scorer averaging 9.9 points per game. It looks as if the 6-foot senior will continue to come off the bench. He led McNeese with 41 steals.

OVERVIEW:

--- Upperclassmen-oriented team with three seniors and two juniors in the starting lineup.

--- Five of last season's top six scorers return.

--- McNeese averaged 67.7 points per game last season and allowed 70.2.

--- Today's game is a homecoming of sorts for Kapelan who hails from Vancouver, British Columbia.

STARTING LINEUP:

G - C.J. Collins: 5-10, 172, Sr., 4.6 ppg., 3.3 apg
G - Diego Kapelan: 6-3, 195, Sr., 12.6. 1.9 rpg
F - Patrick Richard: 6-4, 208, Jr. 12.8, 5.2 rpg
F - P.J. Alawoya: 6-7, 215, Sr., 8.0, 7.4 rpg
F - Daniel Richard: 6-9, 190, Jr., 2.3, 2.8 rpg

KEY MATCHUP:

The Huskies appear to matchup well against McNeese. It would seem Matthew Bryan-Amaning will pair against Alawoya and Washington's forwards are big enough to defend Richard and Richard. Expect Justin Holiday to lock on Patrick Richard, which puts Abdul Gaddy on Kapelan and Isaiah Thomas on Collins. Holiday draws the toughest defensive assignment again. If he can negate Patrick Richard offensively and keep him off the glass, then the Cowboys will be hard pressed to keep pace with the up-tempo Huskies. Keeping track of Kapelan is also vital. If he gets hot, it could be long day for UW.
